An HP printing technology that helps provide more vivid prints from
digital
photos. HP printers that use HP PhotoREt technology have two separate ink
cartridges. One tricolor cartridge contains full dye-load inks in cyan, magenta,
and yellow while the second ink cartridge contains light dye-load inks of light
cyan and light magenta, as well as a specially formulated dye-based black ink.
The black ink is richer and glossier than the usual black that is produced by a
composite of colored inks. HP PhotoREt IV can produce a total of 289 levels of
shade for each color. The complete palette exceeds 1.2 million colors.
